Finesse 12U Winners of PC Pride Classic Tournament
Finesse 12U stepped up and finished as Champions this weekend in what was the most competitive 12U tournament of the year. During the whole weekend the team demonstrated incredible character at every turn.
What is Team Character?
Finesse finished 3-1 in pool play. One of these pool games was an extra game and on paper was a "no count"; however, in true Finesse fashion, we played awesome ball, banging in 9 runs to defeat a talented Michigan Bulldogs team.
What is Team Character?
Finesse suffered a huge setback with the injury of one of our pitchers. (Get better soon Mack). The two teams standing in the way of a Finesse championship just happened to be the only two teams that have beaten Finesse this year. In order to win the Championship, we would have to beat these teams back to back, short one awesome pitcher, and having played one more game than the rest.
In the semi-final game against the Bulldogs, Finesse found themselves trailing late in the game. With runners on base a HUGE hit (great shot Olivia) drove in runs and we were off to meet the Ohio Lady Lasers in the finals.
What is Team Character?
The Lady Lasers had beaten us 3 times, twice in preseason play and one the day before in pool play. After coming out strong and putting up 3 runs, a questionable "no-call" of runner interference allowed a rally by the Lasers and Finesse found themselves behind 4-6.
As fate would have it, our 14U Finesse team finished their Championship game, and joined the 12U team in the dugout, bringing the energy level up 10 notches. The 12's responded, again with team character, to rally back, scoring 5 runs to take a 9-6 lead and win the game. THANK YOU 14's!
What is Team Character?
For those of you lucky enough to watch Finesse teams play this weekend, you witnessed it first hand!
Congrats to Alex Sobczak, Tournament MVP. Al, I have never seen you hit better.
We will take this weekend off to heal up, then on to NSA States.
ONE TEAM, ONE DREAM
Coach Paul
